5 tips for photo ready skin
Hello! My name is Ursula & I am the lead makeup artist at the Lucie Al Portraits Studio.
Below I have compiled a list of what I believe to be the most important tips to follow in the run up to your photoshoot in order to get the most radiant, flawless skin possible so you can truly shine. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
In preparation for your photoshoot (and as part of your daily routine) it’s important to cleanse your skin, even if you are not wearing makeup. Not cleansing properly can leave your face dry, patchy & cause breakouts which no amount of makeup can cover up properly. I recommend double cleansing morning and night to remove makeup, pollutants & impurities. Don’t forget to tone & moisturise too!
Regular exfoliation improves skin tone & texture, is beneficial for cell renewal & helps to unclog pores & prevent blackhead formation. For dry skin exfoliate 1-2 times per week (depending on sensitivity) and for normal/oily skin 2-3 per week. A regular exfoliation routine can do wonders for your skin.
Cut down on your alcohol intake in the weeks prior to your photoshoot and drink LOADS of water. This will help clear any toxins that cause blemishes and reduce the appearance of fine lines and signs of premature ageing caused by dehydration. The hyaluronic acid that naturally occurs in your skins will drink up the water and create a more youthful plump effect. I’ll cheers to that!
As if anyone needs a reason to catch some extras Z’s.. It’s important to get enough sleep as this is when your body regenerates & repairs itself. Skin cells renew themselves over night too, so lack of sleep causes dull, lifeless, washed out skin. It’s called beauty sleep for a reason!
5. Vitamin C
Vitamin C (also known as ascorbic acid) naturally occurs in your skin and is an amazing antioxidant. It helps keep skin healthy and flawless when combined with good hydration and a balanced diet. A regular intake of this good stuff helps reduce age spots and pigmentation, aids the skins ability to protect against sun damage, improves the production of essential collagen and enhances complexion. Make sure to stock up on tropical fruits & dark leafy greens to reap the benefits of this tasty Vitamin.
